1972 - TRUMBY

Trumby was a 6yr old brown gelding, by Legal Venture out of Wildrin, he was owned by W.D. & I.M Petersen ( Snow & Iona).

In Saturday the 29th of April, 1972, Trumby, carrying 13 stone13lbs won the Dursban Handicap Bracelet over 6 furlongs.

Then Monday the 1st of May, Trumby won the main event - The Cashmere Cup of 1 mile , carrying 13 stone 12lbs, approx 90kgs. He broke the race record by three seconds.

Some people say it was a humerous tribute, others say it was seen as necessary that a wheelbarrow was provided for the jockey to carry the lead when proceeding to the scales at the weight-in after the race.

The rider for both races was W. Petersen.
